At your initial consultation your Osteopath will take a detailed case history. This will cover your present condition and any relevant history. You will also be asked about your past medical history and any medication which you are currently taking.
In order to examine your spine, sites of pain and your posture you will normally be required to dress down to your underwear. The Osteopath will then examine you, assessing the site of pain, your general posture and mobility.
Specialised examinations (e.g. reflexes, blood pressure, etc.) may also be preformed. The Osteopath must ensure that no serious medical problems are overlooked and, where necessary, you will be referred to your GP for further medical tests.
Treatment is normally comfortable and tailored to the individual’s posture and requirements. Advice and exercises will usually be prescribed with reference to the patient’s lifestyle, work and home environment. The exercises are suggested to maintain a minimum level of fitness necessary to achieve an improved physical state. Where problems appear to recur frequently, we suggest having a six-month check up to minimise the risk of relapse.

I had a back condition that had become persistent and painful and felt reluctant to rely on conventional painkillers. I preferred a long term solution to the problem.
Donald identified the treatment needed and recommended exercises that I could do in between consultations. I found that he is flexible about appointments, answers questions thoroughly and Donald’s knowledge, professionalism and his warm personality are hard to beat. It is bliss to now walk pain free.
I can highly recommend Donald.
I’ve been a client of Donald's for over 11 years, having previously tried to get help from a range of other professionals for long-term chronic back pain. I have found Donald to be an exceptionally gifted practitioner who is blessed with a warm and generous personality. Donald has provided me with individualised and holistic treatment, which now allows me to live a relatively pain-free life. I have recommended him to many people who have also experienced outstanding results and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending him again.
I was recommended to Donald when I had a hip problem. He is professional, kind and very knowledgeable. After two visits I was out of pain, he has also sorted out a long term neck problem that I have had for years. I was given aftercare advice. I could not recommend Donald more highly and would not hesitate to go back in the future.
I recently realised I hadn’t been to see an Osteopath for nearly two years as ‘my guy’ had retired so put up with minor aches and pains in my right arm and back and was always too busy or tried to self treat!
3 treatments later with Donald and I am feeling so much better and aware and … Osteopathy works!!
Getting older and trying to keep on working in a very physical job I now realise I need to maintain my good health and mobility with regular maintenance treatment.
